Instagram stories are a great way to engage your followers and make them feel closer to your brand. These short videos can offer immense insight into the life in the company and the personality of the employees; that’s why it’s vital that you use them for your marketing efforts. Currently, they’re one of the best ways to make your customers feel the more human side of the company and thus become more loyal to it.
The Instagram story polls feature is an excellent addition to the platform, as it allows you to forge a connection with your followers by asking them questions, giving them quizzes, and more. How to Create an Instagram Story Poll
Creating a poll on Instagram story is relatively easy, even though the app gives us a ton of options. To do it, you have to:
- Make an Instagram story by swiping left and shooting something or uploading a photo/video.
- Tap the sticker icon at the very top of the screen (it looks like a smiley square).
- Select the “poll” sticker icon.
- Write down your question for the poll and edit the answer options.
- Tap “send to” and share the poll to your IG stories.
These are just the basic steps that cover the creation of a poll; however, you can still spice up your story by adding music, stickers, and effects.
How to See Results from Your Instagram Story Poll
Being able to see and analyze the responses from the audience is crucial. To view the results from your Instagram story poll, simply view the story you posted and tap on the “Seen By” button in the lower-left corner. This will show how many people viewed the story and who voted on the poll, as well as the number of votes each option received.
Your followers probably want to know which choice got the most votes or, if it was a quiz, they probably want to know if they got it right. That’s why Instagram has created a “Share results” button that allows you to easily share the results from the poll in a new Instagram story.
Ideas for Instagram Polls
Doing polls might sound a little bit boring, but in fact, it can be pretty engaging for your followers as these posts don’t require a lot of attention in order for them to participate. However, if you’re all out of ideas on what to ask the audience, here are some of the most common types of polls we see on Instagram:
This or That Instagram Poll
In this one, you have to give viewers two options and ask them which one they prefer. You can be as creative as you like here, and it can be helpful for a variety of businesses. Here are some examples:
- Which product of ours do you prefer? This or that?
- Choose the best ice cream flavor: strawberry or chocolate chip?
- Go-to weekend activity? Party with friends or movie night at home?
- Favorite pick me up drink? Black tea or coffee?
Yes or No Instagram Poll
These types of “Yes or no” questions are also quite popular as they can be used for a variety of topics and require a fast response from viewers. It’s the perfect poll for when you want to see whether your audience has an interest in a specific case or product or to ask them what kind of content they enjoy more. Some of the questions can look like this:
- Would you wear this shirt? Yes or no.
- Do you care about sustainability? Yes or no.
- Would you like to see some behind-the-scenes footage? Yes or no.
- Want to see a day-in-the-life reel? Yes or no.
However, you can also think of questions that are specific to your industry and that will spark an interest in your followers.
