Social media platforms often change their policies, features, and community guidelines. TikTok is not an exception to that rule. In a previous version of the app, users were able to see who viewed their profile. However, TikTok does not allow you to have information on who viewed your videos.
The only data you can see is how many times your clip has been viewed, how many times it has been liked, and all of the comments that people left on it.
Is There a Workaround so That You Can See Who Viewed Your TikTok?
Unfortunately, there isn’t. Like we previously said, TikTok has removed this feature, and so you’re no longer allowed to see which accounts have checked out your content. However, this also means that your viewing habits are private, as well.
Instead of showing you which profiles watched your video, TikTok only shows you the number of views you have received. That number increases, even if the same person viewed your clip more than once. It basically counts all of the times it was watched, regardless of who the viewer was.
Furthermore, you get notifications whenever people like and comment on your videos. Along with that, you can also see which profiles made duets and stitches using one of your videos. That information can be found in the Activity tab of the app and in the notification panel as well.
How Can You See TikTok Video View Counts?
Even though you can’t see who viewed your video, there’s still a ton of information that’s available for you in the TikTok app.
Here’s how you can see how many views your video has gathered:
- Open the TikTok application.
- Tap the “Profile” icon on the bottom right corner of your screen, next to the “Inbox” icon. This will take you to your TikTok profile menu.
- In this section of the app, you will see how many views each of your videos have gathered. As you don’t receive a notification for each view, the number may surprise you, which is why it’s good to keep tabs on how your videos are doing and whether views are increasing.
Along with showing you the views of your content, the profile page is the place where you can make changes to your profile, see all of the accounts that follow you, start creating videos, change your profile’s icon and username, make alterations to your privacy options, and switch your account to a private one.
TikTok Account Analytics
Along with seeing your views, you can also check out more in-depth TikTok analytics. This feature is similar to the one offered on other social media platforms such as Instagram.
Here’s how you can check your account’s data analytics:
- Go to the TikTok app and open it.
- From there, tap the “Profile” icon at the bottom right corner. This will show you your profile.
- Tap on the three lines at the top right corner to see your settings.
- Find the “Creator Tools” button and select it.
- Click on “Analytics.” If you didn’t have this feature on before, you would have to turn it on.
On this new page, you will be able to see a few different tabs: “Overview,” “Content,” “Followers,” and “Live.” In the “Overview” tab, you will be able to see your engagement rates, as well as how many likes, views, profile visits, comments, and shares you’ve gotten. The “Content” tab analyzes your trending videos for the past seven days and shows you their view count. With the “Followers” tab, you can see a breakdown of your audience by country and gender. Along with that, you will have information on your growth rate and on when your viewers are the most active.
Can You Control Who Sees Your TikTok Account?
If you want to keep your videos private, or you just want to control who sees your content, you can do so by making your account private. This is how you can do it:
- Again, you have to go to the “Profile” icon at the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the three lines that can be found on the top-right part of your screen. Select “Settings and Privacy” and head on over to the “Privacy” section.
- Once you are in that section, you can make your account private.
Once your account is private, you can control who follows you. Once someone wants to follow you, you can limit the number of people who see your content and send direct messages. Your profile name, icon, and bio will remain visible to all other accounts.
If you want to prevent a particular user or group of users from viewing your content, the only way to do so is by blocking them. You can do so by going on the “Menu” icon at the top and then selecting the “Block” button that is at the bottom of the menu. Once you do that, your account will be locked away from all those you don’t want to have access to it.
Why are TikTok Analytics so Important?
As with all other social media platforms, TikTok analytics can be extremely helpful. Being able to make videos aimed at a specific audience is key since it can enable you to both gain and keep followers simultaneously.
Even if you’re a smaller creator of the app, it’s still a good idea to pay attention to the analytics of your account. It will help you see which videos are getting more engagement, which in turn will help set a direction for your future content and the development of your profile.
Analytics are generally really helpful, especially for people who do content creation on a more professional level. They help you see how your content performs and can be extremely valuable when you’re trying to reach a new audience or grow an account. The fact that this future is built-in to the app also means that you don’t have to pay for a third-party app to see how your videos are performing. This makes the task both easier and less time-consuming.
Can You See Who Has Viewed Your Profile?
As it is with videos, you also cannot see which accounts visited your profile. That’s likely because having this feature will dissuade users from viewing other people’s profiles.
We’re all guilty of stalking others online, whether those others are influencers, celebrities, or our friends. If people were able to see who looked at their profile, it would probably lead to a few awkward situations. Along with that, part of the fun of interacting online is that you’re able to choose to stay anonymous.
TikTok makes it extremely easy for viewers to remain anonymous. As long as you don’t like, share, duet, or stitch the video, its creator cannot know how many times you’ve watched it or even who you are. However, the second you interact with the content in any way, the creator will receive a notification displaying your username, icon, and what your action was.
Furthermore, if you want to remain 100% anonymous, you can watch videos without creating an account. That way, there’s no way for you to interact with the content in any way, and so there’s no way for anyone to find out you watched it.
Does TikTok Show Who Liked Your Video?
To put it simply: yes, it does. TikTok shows how many likes and from which accounts your video has gathered. Additionally, whenever someone likes a video of yours, TikTok sends you a notification that this has occurred. Again, in the “Notifications” tab, you will be able to see that person’s username and profile picture. You can even see each individual notification when you’re in that tab on the app.
If I’ve Blocked Someone on TikTok, Will He Know If I’ve Viewed His Videos?
There’s no way for someone to know who viewed his videos, and so it’s impossible for him to find out you watched his content. The same applies to profile visits – there’s no way to see who has recently gone to your profile, regardless of whether the person is blocked or not.
Obviously, the answer to the question, “Can you see who views your TikTok?” is no. However, even though you can’t see who viewed your videos or who visited your profile, a lot of other information is available on TikTok’s analytics page. You can see vital information about your audience, like where they’re from, their gender, and their age, as well as when they’re the most active, which can help you create and post content that’s relevant to them. Along with that, thanks to the “Analytics” tab, you can see how your account is doing and what videos are getting the most engagement, which will be helpful for growing an audience and getting a bigger following in the future
