Pinterest Management: The Essential Guide on How to Post on Pinterest

Pinterest is often neglected as a marketing tool. However, using it can help your advertising efforts a ton. Posting on the platform is a great way to boost brand awareness and drive traffic to your website.

That being said, the Pinterest app is ever-changing as it gets new updates and develops. In this post, we will take a look at how you can post on Pinterest using all kinds of devices: laptops, mobile phones, and even tablets. We will also give you some Pinterest management tips so that your journey on the app brings even more success to your marketing campaign.

Let’s get started.

What Can You Post on Pinterest?

If you’re a small business or an influencer, you will likely want to know how to post on Pinterest. Those posts can lead directly to your website and thus generate traffic. The platform allows you to post both videos and images or a mix of both. However, it also enables you to write extended captions explaining the image/video or inviting viewers to visit your website.

Some of the most popular types of content on Pinterest are guides and how-to videos that aim to either help users do something or explain how something gets done. However, aesthetically pleasing photographs are also a hit amongst users.

How to Post to Pinterest on a Desktop

Before you start posting on Pinterest, it’s good to have at least a few Pinterest-worthy images that are high-quality and with good graphics. If you need help with creating such imagery, you can use a tool like Canva, as it can be very helpful with graphic design.

Post a Photo or Carousel to Pinterest

Pinterest’s pinning tool is incredible. It enables you to create multiple Pins at once and to schedule when they get to be posted. The process of uploading a photo is simple:

  • Log in to Pinterest.
  • Select “Create Pin.”

    – Drop a single image that says “Drag and drop” to make one Pin with one image.

  • Regardless of whether you make one or multiple Pins, you have to fill out the Title, Description, Alt Text, and Destination Link, which is where your users would be taken if they click on a Pin.
  • Then you can choose on which board to publish it and when to do it (immediately or at a later stage). The “Publish at a later date” option allows you to schedule posts in advance.
  • All that’s left is to click on “Publish,” and you’re done.

Post a Video on Pinterest

Posting a video on Pinterest mimics the process of publishing a photo. The only difference is that you cannot create a college or carousel of videos. However, you can create multiple video Pins and upload them with a different video cover.

  • Log in to Pinterest.
  • Select “Create Pin.”

  • Then you can choose on which board to publish it and when to do it (immediately or at a later stage). The “Publish at a later date” option allows you to schedule posts in advance.

Post Story Pins on Pinterest

Story Pins is a new feature on the platform but is not yet available to all users. You have to go to the Create button and request access to access it. Once you receive it, you’ll want to begin using it, as Pinterest is actively trying to promote it to its users.

To create Story Pins

  • Go to Pinterest and log in.
  • Click on “Create Story Pin.”
  • Drag and drop videos, images, or a mix of both. It’s good to have at least four to five pieces of content.
  • Fill out the necessary descriptions and then hit “Publish”.
